Yu Zheng, Ph.D. has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a Senior Research Fellow. The Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (“Wong MNC Center”) was a sponsor of the Association of Chinese Political Studies’ 28th Annual Conference and International Symposium on “China and Changing World Order” which was held at Peking University (China). The Wong MNC Center held its first sponsored panel on The Political Economy of China-Latin America Investment Relations during which Chilean Ambassador to China Jorge Heine, Dr. Enrique Dussel Peters (National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico), and Mr. Benjamin Creutzfeldt (CESA School of Business, Colombia) offered stimulating papers on, respectively, China’s investment relations with Chile, Mexico, and Peru as well as the factors shaping those relations. Jorge Heine, Ph.D., Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to China, presented a paper entitled “The Chile-China Paradox: Burgeoning Trade, but Hardly Any Investment” for the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporation’s sponsored panel on “The Political Economy of China-Latin America Investment Relations” held at the Association of Chinese Political Studies’ 28th Annual Conference and International Symposium on “China and the Changing World Order” which was held at Peking University (Beijing, China). During his presentation, Ambassador Heine, who is also a well published scholar, identified some of the political and economic factors that have limited Chinese investment in Chile and noted a number of recent developments that may take the help to expand bilateral investment relationship in the future.

Shujiro Urata, Ph.D. has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a Senior Research Fellow. Dr. Urata is a specialist in international economics with a focus on Asia-Pacific regional economic integration, international trade, Japan’s foreign trade policy, FDI and economic development, and FDI and trade. Sophie Meunier, Ph.D. has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a Senior Research Fellow. Dr. Meunier is an expert on Chinese direct investment in Europe and is currently writing a book on the politics of Foreign Direct Investment in the EU. The Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (Wong MNC Center) has become a sponsor of the Association of Chinese Political Studies (ACPS) 28th Annual Meeting and International Symposium which the ACPS is co-organizing with the School of International Studies, Peking University, Beijing, China from June 6-7, 2015. In conjunction with its sponsorship, the Wong MNC Center will be organizing a panel on the poitico-economy of China-Latin America investment relations. Among other topics, the conference will examine the policies that China's new leadership is implementing at the local, national, and international levels, the domestic challenges that affect China's ability to pursue its economic and foreign policy goals, and the reactions of other countries and international actors to China's changing policies.

The Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations has entered into an agreement with the China Globalization Association to become a Bronze Sponsor of the 9th "China Goes Global" Conference which will be held at Georgia Tech, The Scheller College of Business, Atlanta, Georgia from October 1-3, 2015. The conference will include discussions about Chinese flows of people, goods, ideas and money, the rise of the emerging markets multinationals, the management and organization of Chinese companies/subsidiaries abroad, Chinese engagement in India, Latin America, and other regions, the impact of Chinese foreign direct investment, the role of government in shaping China's “going out” policy, and sustainable development and corporate social responsibility (CSR) of Chinese multinationals.

Manochehr Dorraj, Ph.D. and Jose-Augusto Guilhon-Albuquerque, Ph.D. have joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as Senior Research Fellows. Dr. Dorraj, who also serves as a blogger for the Wong MNC Center, is an expert on China's relations with the Middle East, China and Iran, energy, geostrategy, and Islam. Dr. Guilhon Albuquerque is Professor of International Relations, University of São Paulo, Brazil (retired) and currently a Fellow with the Strategic Policies Forum, University of Campinas, Brazil. His research focuses on Brazil-China relations, foreign policy analysis, and regional integration. Matt Ferchen, Ph.D. has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a Research Fellow. Dr. Ferchen is a an associate professor in the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University and a resident scholar at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy. His research and teaching are about the confluence of China’s domestic and international political economy, including debates about the “China Model” of development and China-Latin America economic and political relations.

Dr. Manochehr Dorraj has joined the blogger community for the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations. Manochehr, a Professor at Texas Christian University, is an expert on China-Middle East relations and will share his specialized knowledge about investment from China and other East Asian countries in the Middle East and Middle Eastern investment in East Asia as well as his general knowledge about Chinese outward FDI.
