The Executive Director of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations Dr. Jean-Marc F. Blanchard was interviewed in March for _Live Budget Report_ on Chinese investment in the U.K. generally and the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, in which China General Nuclear Power Corporation will invest 18 billion pounds, specifically. He also was asked about his views about the potential impact of project cost overruns on Chinese attitudes towards the project.

Hwy-Chang Moon, Ph.D. has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a Senior Research Fellow. Dr. Moon is a specialist on Multinational Corporations, Foreign Direct Investment, International Business Strategy, and Economic Development in East Asia with a focus on Korea. He currently serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of International Business and Economy. Yang Jiang, Ph.D. has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a Senior Research Fellow. Dr. Jiang is a specialist on the contemporary political economy of China, especially the politics of China’s economic policies. She has broad research interests including Chinese outward investment, overseas infrastructure projects, and Chinese economic diplomacy. Dr. Wei Liang has become Corporate Secretary of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (Wong MNC Center). Dr. Liang also currently serves as President of the Association of Chinese Political Studies (USA), is a senior research fellow of the Wong MNC Center, and is a Professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (USA). On November 21 and 22, 2015, “The Political Economy of China’s Maritime Silk Road Initiative and South Asia” international conference took place in Shanghai, China at East China Normal University. The conference was organized by the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (Wong MNC Center), hosted by the ECNU School of Advanced International and Area Studies (SAIAS), and co-sponsored by the Wong MNC Center, ECNU SAIAS, the Center for Russian Studies, and the Research Center for Co-Development with Neighboring Countries. About 100 academics, researchers, and others were present throughout the course of the two-day event with opening remarks given by Dr. Guo Weilu (ECNU Vice President), Dr. Liu Jun (SAIAS Dean), Dr. Feng Shaolei (Director of the Center for Russian Studies), and Dr. Jean-Marc F. Blanchard (Wong MNC Center Executive Director).

Dr. Yongjun Zhao, Ph.D., Head of China Affairs and Assistant Professor in Globalization Studies at the University of Groningen, has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a research fellow. Yongjun's research focuses on the political-economic, social, institutional and environmental dimensions of international agri-business investments in Africa concerning land acquisitions, rural livelihoods, public-private partnership, corporate social responsibility and development cooperation issues.

The Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations has become a sponsor of the 2015 "“Evolution of International Trading System: Prospects and Challenges” conference which will be held at Saint Petersburg University, Saint Petersburg, Russia from October 29-30, 2015 and is organized/hosted by the Faculty of Economics. The conference will cover issues such as transnational companies in the system of international FDI flows, trade remedies in the WTO system, international labor migration; emerging powers in international trading system, and taxes in the International trading system.

The Executive Director of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations Jean-Marc F. Blanchard has become the editor of the Palgrave Studies in Asia-Pacific Political Economy series. The series aims to publish works, which will be meaningful to academics, businesspeople, and policymakers and broaden or deepen their knowledge about contemporary events or significant trends, or enable them to think in new ways about the interaction of politics and economics in the APR. Possible candidates for the series include topics relating to foreign direct investment, bilateral investment treaties, multinational corporations, regional economic institutions, technology policy, economic globalization, corporate social responsibility, economic development strategies, and labor movements.

Lourdes Casanova, Ph.D. has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a Senior Research Fellow. Dr. Casanova is a specialist in emerging multinationals, especially Latin American ones, corporate social responsibility in emerging multinationals, and women in business in Latin America . Dr. ZHENG Yu has joined the blogger community for the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations. Dr. Zheng, a Wong MNC Center Senior Research Fellow, is a Professor of International Politics at Fudan University (Shanghai) and research associate at Harvard University's Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. His research interests include foreign direct investment, business and government relations, state capitalism in China and other emerging markets.
