Executive Director Jean-Marc F. Blanchard appeared on Class CNBC in late October to discuss China’s 15th 5-year plan

In late October 2025, Dr. Jean-Marc F. Blanchard, Founding Executive Director of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations, was interviewed, along with other experts, on the Chinese economy and China’s foreign economic relations for the CARGO show, a Class CNBC program run out of Italy.  The theme of the show was China’s draft 15th 5-Year Plan, with participants providing assessments of its features, underlying causes, and implications.  Dr. Blanchard asserted China was not significantly changing its economic policies in response to American economic pressures and that many of the areas targeted for development such as high technology have long been Chinese priorities.  The reasons Beijing is focused on these areas include national security interests, the search for autonomy, economic nationalism, and more.
