Asian Sentinel interviews Wong MNC Center Executive Director for article on Donald Trump-Xi Jinping Summit

On March 11, 2026, the Asian Sentinel interviewed Jean-Marc F. Blanchard, Founding Executive Director of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (“Wong MNC Center”) for a story about the forthcoming summit [note: now postponed] between United States (US) President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping that discussed issues ranging from the meeting agenda to the implications of U.S. actions against Venezuela and Iran.  Among other things, Dr. Blanchard commented on the purpose of the meeting and some issues that might be featured in the summit meeting agenda.  Dr. Blanchard said that the summit primarily would be about symbolism and that outcomes would be limited due to a lack of American preparations and the war against Iran.  Dr. Blanchard noted some agenda items that have oft been noted (e.g., China should buy more American agricultural goods), but also raised some ignored or less mentioned ones.  For instance, he suggested that China might raise the issue of Chinese overseas ports with Trump given the ouster of CK Hutchison from Panama and also that the US might also the US President to clarify constantly fluctuating US semiconductor export control policy.
