Executive Director Jean-Marc F. Blanchard Gives Speech at “2018 June 20th (2018) China Venture Capital & Private Equity Forum”
Dr. Jean-Marc F. Blanchard, the Executive Director of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (Wong MNC Center), gave a keynote speech on June 10 at the 20th China Venture Capital & Private Equity Forum in Shenzhen, China at a panel that considered how to enhance business, scientific and technical, and other forms of cooperation in the Guangdong-Macao-Hong Kong (China) Greater Bay Area (粤港澳大湾区). During his presentation entitled “Soft Aspects of Solidifying a ‘Greater Bay Area,’” Dr. Blanchard highlighted the special features of Silicon Valley (California, USA) that have made it thrive, spoke about some of the advantages as well as limitations of China’s Greater Bay Area, identified various barriers that need to be surmounted for the Greater Bay Area to realize its myriad goals, highlighted a number of lessons flowing from research on industrial parks and clusters, and offered some basic policy recommendations on what the Chinese government might do to advance the diverse development objectives of the Greater Bay Area.
