Peter J. Buckley, Ph.D., joins the Wong MNC Center Advisory Board

Peter J. Buckley, Ph.D. has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as an Advisory Board member. Dr. Buckley is a world renowned international business scholar with a specialization in Chinese business. He is Professor, Founder and Director of the Business Confucius Institute, and Founder and Director of the Centre for International Business, all at the University of Leeds (UK). He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2012 and is an elected Fellow of the British Academy. He earned his Ph.D.

Wong MNC Center Executive Director Blanchard speaks at “Revisiting Globalization” Workshop in Singapore

In mid-October, Dr. Jean-Marc F. Blanchard, Executive Director of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations gave an invited talk at the National University of Singapore Institute of South Asian Studies “Revisiting Globalization: Comparing Country Experiences from South Asia and the World” Workshop. José Luis León-Manríquez, Ph.D., has joined the Wong MNC Center as a Senior Research Fellow

José Luis León-Manríquez has joined the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations as a Senior Research Fellow. He is a specialist in East Asian economies and their connections with Latin America and the Caribbean. He currently is Professor of International and East Asian Studies at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) and served as a Mexican diplomat for 14 years.

Mr. Jason Lo Joins Wong MNC Center Advisory Board

Mr. Jason Lo, Senior Director of Strategy, Honeywell (China) Co., Ltd., has joined the Advisory Board of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations. He heads Honeywell’s China strategy, covering the company’s diversified portfolio. In 2016, he was honored with Honeywell’s Premier Achievement Award, one of eight recipients in the entire company. He has held a number of regional leadership roles since joining Honeywell in 2005.

At the end of May, Dr. Jean-Marc F. Blanchard, Executive Director of the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (Wong MNC Center) participated in a panel called “The Art of Attracting Investments and Doing Business in the Baltic Sea Region” at the international 10th Baltic Sea Region Forum orchestrated by the Centrum Balticum and held in Turku, Finland. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (Wong MNC Center) sponsored a panel entitled “China’s Evolving Trade and Investment Relations with Latin America” at the Association of Chinese Political Studies 30th annual meeting held in June 2017 in Tianjin, China. The April 2017 issue of Geopolitics (Vol. 22, No. 2, 2017), a leading journal in the field, will feature a special section on The Geopolitics of China's Maritime Silk Road Initiative (MSRI) that focused on the MSRI and South Asia. The special section provides background on the MSRI, surveys China's economic and political goals at the national and sub-national level, and identifies a number of number of the political and economic factors at the national and sub-national level within and beyond China that will affect the implementation of China's ambitious scheme.
