The Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Blanchard who spoke about Brazil’s foreign policy towards China, Mr. Javier Luque who analyzed the factors shaping Argentine-China investment relations, and Dr. Jose Luis Leon-Manriquez who undertook a comparative analysis of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean investment in Latin America. The panel, chaired by Dr. Brantly Womack, a distinguished China scholar, offered many insights on contemporary economic ties between China/East Asia and Latin America, the political and economic variables shaping East Asian investment patterns in the region, and the impact of East Asian investment on host country foreign and domestic policies.
