To enhance our knowledge about China’s Maritime Silk Road Initiative (MSRI), a component of China’ larger “One Belt, One Road” (OBOR) scheme and a key Chinese foreign security and economic policy priority, the Mr. & Mrs. S.H. Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations (USA) has organized a 1-1/2 day international conference that will focus on the politico-economic dimensions of the MSRI and Southeast Asia and feature in-depth discussions by a diverse set of experts from China and other countries. The conference, co-sponsored by and hosted by the School of Advanced International and Area Studies at East China Normal University (ECNU), will take place from November 19 to November 20, 2015 on the beautiful campus of ECNU (Shanghai, China) and follows a highly successful conference in November 2015 that focused on the MSRI and South Asia. Attendees, who will include policy analysts, businesspeople, scholars, and others, will gain a better understanding of the features of the MSRI, especially in Southeast Asia, its implications for the region and elsewhere, its bilateral dynamics, the role of Chinese multinational corporations in the scheme, and the variables that will influence the development of the MSRI in Southeast Asia.
